Site update: enhanced product pages and price watch labels
Tonight’s update provides a few changes that feel like natural extensions of the site.
First of all, Camel contributor Ben has been working on this feature request, in which the user desired the ability to organize price watches by folder. Rather than implement a complex hierarchal folder system, we decided that simple labels would probably suffice. Now when you create or (bulk) edit your price watches, you will have the option of applying a label to them. Once you’ve labeled any of your price watches, the labels will appear in the filters area on your products list page and can be used to refine your price watch selection. Please note: you need to be logged in to use this feature.
Next, having heard some complaints about the lack of desired price stats on the product page, I decided to do some work on the price type-specific panes that live there. The price history chart now lets you choose range and outlier filtering options, and below that is included the high/low/average desired prices taken from all Camel users. Here’s a screenshot of that tasty action:
Finally, the last change of note was to the home page. To the top drops we’ve added a small price history chart, which is meant primarily to display the magnitude of the drop rather than the specific details; this helps you determine, at a glance, if the price drop is real or has been inflated by recent price hikes. And, when we’re regenerating the top drops, the homepage will now display a random sampling of the day’s popular products. I hope that makes it seem less empty during those short periods.
